Restart Winter Warmer Campaign

Why we need your help

Help our members move on from homelessness this winter
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, but now the winter is set to offer unprecedented challenges to London’s homeless.
Winter night shelters relied upon by many rough sleepers have been forced to close due to the risk posed by Covid-19, while social distancing, restrictions and lockdowns will leave vulnerable people who need ongoing support out in the cold this Christmas.
The benefit we bring to our members on their way to getting accommodation, employment and beyond has been hit hard too. At Restart, we’ve spent 2020 listening to what our members need, adapting our services and finding new ways to help London’s homeless community during the pandemic.
Now, we urgently need your help to serve hundreds of hot meals and ensure homeless and vulnerably housed people can stay connected to the support they need to get through this winter.
What your donations could help fund for our members this winter:
A warm safe space to sit and eat indoors
Staying connected with support over the festive period and winter months
Drop-in services with free hot meals for all
Befriending and mentoring programmes
Counselling services
Support accessing housing and financial assistance to move on from homelessness
Our work-readiness activities to prepare members for employment
Costs to help complete training or a work placement
Phones credit, data and devices to stay connected and less isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic
A library for members to borrow portable chargers to charge a device and swap it for a fully charged one
Our staff who support members to navigate their way out of homelessness
Short-term accommodation
£10 will enable us to offer our powerbank library to a rough sleeper this winter to keep their phone charged outdoors
£30 means a member can stay in touch with vital support services for three months over the winter season
£40 pays for digital skills and advice surgeries to help our members stay connected during the Covid pandemic
£50 will help us to run regular support workshops tailored to our members’ needs
£60 pays for a counselling session for someone who’s been bereaved.
£100 pays for an initial assessment with a professional counsellor
£200 enables us to provide space needed for a week for our counselling, mentoring and other support services
£250 means we can provide a mentoring package to one of our members for 6 months
We know it’s been a tough year, but whether you’re planning a charity donation instead of sending cards this Christmas; doing a fundraiser or completing a challenge, we’d welcome any support you can give - even sharing this with you own networks to help us Restart Lives.
