Why we need your help
Sally's Fund has been set up in memory of our friend and fellow club member Sally Lawrence. She passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 1st May 2020.
Sally contributed a huge amount to the club and wider rowing community. She was the epitome of inclusiveness, making sure people had access to rowing and enjoyed it above all else. She gave so much of her time to the club and wider rowing community that it is impossible to imagine that just one person would be able to replace her.
To honour her memory, we have established Sally’s Fund in her name to enable her inclusive spirit to live on. The fund aims to support people, particularly those who face barriers and challenges, or just need help that she would willingly have given.
The types of support that the fund could enable will include providing access to the sport of rowing for groups with varying needs, equipment, participation in external events for people and groups who wouldn’t generally race, training for people willing to coach such people and other groups who have less access to traditional club resources.
We can't replace Sally but we can help provide the support and encouragement that Sally would have given in her own special way.
We aim to set up an online book of condolence on the club's website (learc.co.uk) so we have a record of the many lovely comments that have been posted. If you would like to contribute you can either leave a comment on the Virgin Giving page with your full name or send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We'd also like to share with you a video that we have put together in her memory.
