Save Surrey Docks Farm
Why we need your help
To ensure the Farm can survive during the Coronavirus outbreak we need your help to cover our animal care costs of £7,000 each month!
In line with government advice, we suddenly had to close Surrey Docks Farm. Our community farm is normally open seven days a week, allowing free access for thousands of visitors to get outdoors and learn about farming, food production and the natural environment in the centre of London.
As a result of this closure we've had to pause onsite delivery of projects that engage local people in animal care, food growing and cooking activities. Stopping school visits, toddlers groups, youth clubs, training projects for adults with learning disabilities, work experience placements, youth reparation service, English lessons for asylum seekers, older people's reminiscence projects, hundreds of volunteer sessions and so on.
Along with this loss of activity we're also losing all associated income. We've reduced our expenditure wherever possible, but we still have to spend £7,000 a month just to cover the costs of the livestock team, animal feed and bedding, plus any medicine and treatments. We're aiming to raise 4 months livestock costs via this campaign and if successful will still have significant income to raise from grants, just to break even this year.
The financial future of the Farm is now in the balance and we need your help to survive! Any donations are hugely appreciated.
The Farm gates may be closed but we continue to support our community remotely by adapting our services. Please visit our website for a full update of what we are doing behind the scenes!
