Help us become more self-sufficient at DC ...

Discovery Centre (DC) has impacted the lives of many young people and we want this to continue and to help DC achieve this the trustees want to raise funds so solar panels can provide power to the DC buildings.

There is plenty of sunshine and we want to use this to reduce the running costs of the centre to assist in the long term sustainability of the project.

The trustees are thrilled that a borehole is now providing water to the buildings and farm at DC and now it is time to tap into the free available solar panel.

The electricity bill for DC is up to £250 per month, of this approximately £150 will be use to light the buildings and provide night time security lighting.

To install a solar power system to meet DC’s demand will cost £8,000. Each building will have it own subsystem and the estimated cost are as follows:

The main building £3000

The education centre £1500

The media centre £1200

The staff house £1500

The directors house £800

Total estimated cost £8000

Our aim is to raise the £8,000 over the next 12 months to support DC in it long term sustainability and enable the DC staff to continue to motivate and encourage some of the worlds poorest children to fulfill their physical emotional and spiritual potential.
