COVID-19 Emergency Fund

Why we need your help

(Updated 15 May 2020)

Our work to prevent youth homelessness continues with 24/7 support in our accommodation services. This work does not stop.

Like most charities, the effect of COVID-19 has been hard-hitting. For us, the virus and social distancing restrictions forced the closure of our Norfolk Furniture Stores and Suffolk Re-use Shops back in March, resulting in an immediate loss of money for our charity. Our shops remain closed, however our work to support vulnerable people in Norfolk and Suffolk continues.

This means we need your help now, more than ever.

We know this is an extremely challenging and testing time for everybody but with your support, we can help more local people who need us.

Could you donate the cost of your usual weekly or monthly petrol, bus or train fare to help the local, vulnerable young people we support??

Never have positive activities and emotional wellbeing support been so important. Lockdown is hard. Social distancing is hard. The young people and families we help through our services to prevent youth homelessness, our support for Young Carers, our Youth and Family Centre in Thetford and our ‘Butterflies’ Emotional Wellbeing Support have been unable to access support, routines, groups, training and education in the usual way. These are all important elements in helping them to move forward and ones which contribute to a noticeable reduction in negative emotions, influences and activities.

Our work to prevent youth homelessness continues with 24/7 support in our accommodation services. This work does not stop. We’re also adapting some of our other services and have moved  some online to ensure we are doing what we can to support the people who need us. Your donations can help us now more than ever.

Here’s how donating your commute can help us:

£7.50 will supply a ‘Bag of Love’ to young people we support, including Young Carers and those from deprived, local communities. Containing crafts, activities and puzzles, our Bags of Love encourage mindful, positive activities while staying safe at home.

£15 will pay for a 30 minute support session of online emotional wellbeing support for a young person aged 5 to 18.

£20 will pay for a 30 minute online counselling session for a young person aged 5 to 18 with a qualified Counsellor.  We help children and young people to talk about their feelings in order to improve their mental health, and build their self-confidence and resilience. By helping at an early stage, our work aims to prevent more serious problems arising in the future.

£90 will pay for three online groups for Young Carers in the Breckland area. The impact of not having their normal routines and day-to-day activities will be felt heavily with Young Carers having to spend their days at home when they would normally be at school. Being able to provide online groups will help to ensure young people to feel supported and encourage them to engage in mindful, positive activities and enable them keep in touch with their peers.

£350 will buy a laptop for a young person living with us in our accommodation services. This will enable vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness to access online support, training and education to support both their mental health and future prospects.

Please donate your commute to our COVID-19 Emergency Fund - all money raised will help local people who need our help. You can make your donation via the link below to our Virgin Money Giving page.

Thank you so much for your support.

Tricky times for everyone but this charity helps to give young people opportunities and security they wouldn't have been able to access alone.
