Tent of Refuge Appeal
Why we need your help
June 2020
It is the poorest who suffer the most!
This project functions in the slums of Nairobi – Korogocho, Dandora and surrounding areas which border the huge Nairobi dumpsite.
Pastor Boniface who manages this project writes:
"Greetings from Kenya and from the Tent of Refuge family.
The situation is not encouraging. The number of people infected by Coronavirus keeps on rising day by day. We can't access some services and food has become expensive. Many facilities are closed including schools and we are under national curfew.
As Tent of Refuge we are keeping in touch with our children and their families.
1. Monthly Food bags
We are distributing food parcels every month. A food parcel contains maize flour (used to make ugali, the staple food), red kidney beans and cooking oil (ufuta). This has been so helpful for people and we thank God for that provision. Due to high cost of food bags distribution we have spent quite a large amount of money to sustain our children during this time of corona pandemic.
2. WhatsApp, Facebook & Cell phone
We are praying and encouraging our children through a WhatsApp and Facebook group we have created for parents. Those who are not on WhatsApp we are calling them on their phones to check on them and even send them messages of hope.
Otherwise we thank God for His provision. We strongly believe we shall overcome this pandemic. We are strong in the Lord."
