The Cellar Trust COVID-19 Appeal

Why we need your help

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes to services across the world, including at The Cellar Trust. We transitioned to working digitally from home at the start of lockdown so we could continue providing our vital services, contacting our clients regularly to offer help and support. However, the pandemic has meant our already busy crisis service is more in demand than ever, so we need to raise £50,000 to be able to hire two extra Peer Support Workers to join our Haven team…

“Contact with Rachel has helped especially during lockdown. I have been called weekly and look forward to her calls. It’s nice to have a chat and for someone to check in with me, it also made me feel I can contact someone if I need anything and feel less alone.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has also brought an increase in demand for our services. Our Haven Crisis Support service had its highest ever number of support sessions in April as lockdown was announced in the UK. Our courses during Mental Health Awareness Week, facilitated by our Pathways to Employment team, were extremely popular and our online peer support groups are ensuring that are clients are getting the care they need.

“Before isolation my mental health was pretty good, so I hadn’t been attending any support groups but since being isolated I began needing support for this as well. Attending the support groups mean I now have something to look forward to each week. I feel they have helped me cope with the isolation a lot better than I could have without them and that I have been listened to.”

However, as seen across the UK charity sector, our community fundraising has taken a huge hit due to social distancing and lockdown restriction. We face a funding gap of £50,000 between April and December 2020. Without this, the amount of support we can give and the number of people we can help will be limited and so we need your support to fill this funding gap.

“[Without The Cellar Trust], I probably wouldn’t be here anymore. I had accessed different support before, but it wasn’t the same as the kind that I’m receiving from The Cellar Trust now.”

If you can, please donate to our COVID-19 Appeal and help us raise the much-needed funds for The Cellar Trust.

Steve

I really hope The Cellar Trust raise enough to keep going- this is where it all started for me as a volunteer in their cafe, on my journey to recovery. They will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope they can continue to help others.
