The DCF Hoists Campaign
Why we need your help
The DCF Hoists Campaign - Target £10,000
There are a number of profoundly disabled and immobile children supported by The Dorset Children’s Foundation. We want more than ever for them to be included in all the activities in their own homes and with the DCF activities that we run. We are fundraising for six hoists in total. Five will be used by parents and one will be made available at The DCF events and to help get children from their wheelchairs onto our changing table.
One of the children that will benefit from a hoist is James:
James is a 15 year old boy who is a full time wheelchair user, he has to be hoisted for all transfers as he is too heavy to lift.
At home he has a fixed to the ceiling overhead hoist that takes him from his bedroom to the bathroom.
James loves close contact and cuddles with his mum but he’s missing out as there is no way to hoist him onto the sofa in the family home.
James has a wheelchair bike but it’s now impossible to lift him into it without a hoist that can go out to the bike.
His family love holidays together and need a hoist to take with them.
James would love to join a yoga session but he would currently have to stay in his wheelchair as The DCF also need a hoist to lower the young people onto a gym mat and lift them again after.
Please support us to buy these much needed hoists and help make a big difference to their lives.
