Winter Shelter 2017
Why we need your help
Support us to help homeless people get off the streets this winter.
We will again be running a winter shelter from January to March 2017, providing an essential lifeline during the coldest and wettest time of year. The shelter will offer up to eight beds and will be open to homeless people from Elmbridge, Runnymede and Spelthorne. It will provide basic accommodation and meals for homeless people who would otherwise be sleeping rough.
Transform’s 2016 winter shelter received 64 referrals from 5 January to 31 March – more than five people a week. 31 local people were given housing and support at the shelter over three months. 61% of those were supported to move to more permanent housing.
We know there is a real need for a dedicated service to help local people who find themselves homeless during the winter months. Even in an affluent area such as Surrey, homeless people end up sleeping on the streets or living in a tent or vehicle. During the winter, this can lead to serious health problems and can even be fatal.
To get the Winter Shelter project up and running this year, we need donations so show your support today!
