Washy is wishing on a star that this is not her last Christmas.
With Christmas just around the corner it is not unusual for rescue centers to see an increase in the amount of older dogs and cats being given up for rehoming to make way for the Christmas puppy or kitten, and this year would appear to be no different. We, Gables Dogs and Cats Home, have recently taken in an elderly Terrier named Washy who is in desperate need of multiple procedures and a lot of TLC!
Little Washy arrived very underweight and frail. She has several large mammary tumours, a large fluid lump on her elbow and is in desperate need of a dental with extractions. She will also need an x-ray to see if the tumours have spread to her chest.
It is estimated that it will cost around £1,200 for all the necessary treatments she requires, so we are looking to our amazing supporters to help brighten Washy's future. Washy is still full of life and a very sweet little dog who loves nothing more than curling up on your lap and having tummy rubs, in fact if you stop rubbing her tummy she will pull your hand back for more. She is not ready to give up on life so we are not going to give up on her.
Deputy Manager Ruth Rickard says: "We were asked to help this poor little dog by another orgainastion and when we saw how much care she needed and how sweet she is, we just couldn't say no. With this being the season of good will we are hoping that our wounderful supporters can help get this dear little dog the medical help she so desperatly needs. As we are a genuine non-euthanasia charity we hope we can improve Washy's quality of life and ensure she lives out her retirement as comfortably as possible. We hope she can be our Christmas miracle!"
If we are lucky enough to raise more money than is needed it will go towards helping the other animals in our care.
