You Raise Me Up 2021

Why we need your help

The death of a child is a traumatic event that deeply affects everyone connected to the loss. Parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, extended families, communities, and schools can find their world turned upside down by the loss of a young person. The loss is not just immediate.  It can take that years to acknowledge it and just exist day to day rather than live a life.

The impact of bereavement on everyday life is huge affecting mental health, the ability to work and to carry out even the smallest normal task.  The bereaved feel isolated from life and their current community with no one to turn to who can totally understand how they feel.

You Raise Me Up was founded by the late Jane Brooks and her husband Fraser in June 2011 following the sudden loss of their daughter Megan. Unable to find the support they themselves needed at this tragic time they founded the charity.

We provide compassion, support and simply to be able to say “we totally understand” rather than “we cannot imagine what you are going through!”

This is our 10th Anniversary year.
