National Memorial Arboretum - 40th Anniversary Sponsored Walk

10.00am, 01 June 2013

Further information

To celebrate the RE Council's 40th Anniversary year, the National Memorial Arboretum Walk will be one of 20 walks across England and Wales. We will meet at the Arboretum at 10:00am. The guided walk on the 150 acre site will take in selected memorials. At each, there will be space for reflection and discussion and an opportunity to consider such themes as remembrance, memory and memorial, war, peace, justice, reconciliation and forgiveness. There will also be unguided time to visit memorials which may be of specific interest to individuals. More information about the Arboretum can be found here: Proceeds from the National Memorial Arboretum walk will be equally divided between the RE Council and local charity the Arboretum (registered charity number 1043992). The Arboretum is the UK's year-round Centre of Remembrance. It is a spiritually uplifting place which honours the fallen, and recognises service and sacrifice. A living and lasting memorial, it commemorates and celebrates those who have given their lives in the service of their country and all who have served and suffered as a result of conflict. Since the Arboretum is not registered with Virgin Money Giving, the RE Council guarantees to distribute half of all sponsorship from the walk to the Arboretum charity, once it has all been collected.

Joining instructions

Anyone can take part although those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. A pair of comfortable shoes is advisable along with some waterproofs.
