Survival Week

Non-location specific

26 January 2015

Further information

Seven days, one essential item to give up, access to literacy for hundreds of children in rural India Survival Week: coming January 26th 2015. Will you survive? Survival Week is RISE's exciting campaign to raise money and awareness for our work with 154 students learning to read and write in rural India. It's a simple idea: 1. Give up an essential item (it could be your morning coffee, facebook, or even a hot shower) for 7 days. 2. Make a donation to RISE. 3. Compete with your friends, colleagues and family to see who the best survivor is amongst you 4. Celebrate your survival and win rewards! Why does it matter? This is your chance to kick that horrible habit - to go without caffeine, smoking, your daily stalk on facebook, even using the internet after work! For many children in India, your essential is often a luxury. RISE is a small charity, and your money will result in clear, measurable results on the ground. 100% of donations will go to our Yearn to Learn supplementary literacy program in rural West Bengal, where we work with over 150 students. We will be able to provide them better study materials, send us videos of their daily lives, and communicate directly with you, their supporters! Just £15 would help 1 student stay in school for 1 month. How much should I donate for my item? Every £ matters! As this item is an essential, it is up to you to decide on its value - how much are you saving by not using your TV, your phone, by not taking the car out everyday? Don't forget to take a photo, challenge 3 friends and spread the word once you've joined the team with hashtags: survivalweek, iwillsurvive
