Sleep Easy 2015
Surrey
18.00, 06 March 2015
On Friday March 6th 2015, several hundred people will be sleeping under the stars in Kingston and Wimbledon town centres, taking part in our annual 12 hour sleep out Fundraising Challenge “Sleep Easy”. So far over 400 people have ‘Slept Rough So Others Don’t Have To’ in freezing temperatures raising funds for our worthy projects. This is the Association’s biggest fundraising event with local and national coverage. People of all ages have slept out under the stars including the Mayor of Merton, VIP’S, local celebrities & councillors, scout groups, police cadets, schools and church groups, and this year we hope to beat last year’s sponsorship target of £24,000. Our main partners for the event are KCAH (Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness), Everyday Church, Merton Winter Night Shelter Project and our YMCA LSW Resettlement project, with whom we share the proceeds. Last year, YMCA LSW alone, housed over 500 local people Throughout the night we run a shelter building competition, entertainment with the focus on homelessness and serve hot soup before bedding down for what may not be a comfortable night’s sleep, but what certainly will be an eye-opening one.
