Eeoyre's Africa Challenge 2017

08:00, 01 July 2017

Further information

In 2017 Eeyore (the Kirsty's Kids Mascot), accompanied by his chauffeur, Trust Chairman John Bryden, will ride a 125cc motorcycle to and across Africa. As the world continues to become more hostile, with tensions rising across its surface, conflicts between Nations and Governments who struggle like children in a kindergarten for popularity. Refugees pour across borders to escape bombs and bullets. Governments fail to deal with the long term solutions, which can only be brought about by negotiation at source. As I watch the news or read the headlines my heart sinks. Just as it did when I discovered that there was no hospice in Moscow dedicated to the palliative care of children. I am appalled to see the devastation of the world’s children and sickened to find global charities with CEO’s on six figure salaries. Only to find some of them are procuring capital by selling arms & tobacco, the very arms which devastate the world’s children. As chairman of a children’s charity, whose patron nursed children at home and in Africa, I must at least try to bring about awareness. I ask all charities, across our fragile world, to unite together to help raise the need resources and provide shelter and care for our world’s children. They are all equal. To this end I intend to attempt to raise £1,000,000. This will be my last major motorcycle charity fundraising challenge. It will be carried out on Kirsty’s wee tiny bike. Same rules; sleep rough and be resourceful. Why £1,000,000? Because with £1,000,000 Trust House would be self-sustaining for many years to come. The interest from this sum would allow me to spend more time helping families and less time fundraising. So here is the challenge. I ask for assistance from bikers across the globe, Blue Knights, businesses and individual sponsors to help me.

Joining instructions

I will take Kirsty's 125cc motorbike onto the African continent in 2017. I will negotiate as many countries as possible, perhaps all of them inside nine weeks from the West Highlands to The west Highlands via Cape Town. I wish to meet and unite Charities so that they will work together. Kristy told me of a charity in France building a Kitchen, only for a charity in UK to be working on the same scheme. Six months after the French build was complete the UK demolished their work and build a new kitchen on top! We need to stop duplicity and money being wasted through misguided good intent. The only way is working together. Like the Blue Knights International Motorcycle club which stretches around the globe, each supporting each other and raising millions for good causes, we need to network our charities to work together. My aim is to highlight the need for world leaders to work together, for the greater good of the world’s children, Instead of building arms and weapons of mass destruction build schools and education for the world’s children. Help me, help the children of today avoid being corrupted by hate and prejudice. Children are only born with love in their hearts they learn hatred and prejudice from adults. My Moscow Challenge trip was drawn up on an old atlas the night before I left. This time I ask for charities to contact me so that I can work with them to bring this about. Thanks in anticipation of your support. John Bryden.
