Run to Pegasus
Dorset
11:00, 04 June 2019
An epic run to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day! 186 runners will set off from Tarrant Rushton Airfield in Dorset and run 62 miles to Portsmouth where they will board a ferry to Normandy before running the final 3 miles along the Caen Canal towpath to the legendary Pegasus Bridge, arriving late morning on 6th June, 75 years to since men of 2 Oxf & Bucks LI arrived on the bridge in the opening minutes of D-Day, tasked with seizing this vital location and holding it until the beach forces landed and relieved them. Their operation was the spearhead of the entire invasion and was pivotal the success of D-Day! This very special event will be launched well in advance of the date and entries will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. We need 186 sponsored runners to replicate the Coup de Main plus the RAF pilots and co-pilots who flew the Halifax Bombers towing the Horsa gliders to their destination. Each runner must raise a minimum of £1000 for The Veterans Charity.
Joining instructionsOpen to anyone over the age of 18. All entrants MUST be fit and able to cover the distance in the time allocated. Entries can be registered at www.veteranscharity.org.uk
