Birmingham Community Hosting Network
Sponsored Night Bus Ride
West Midlands
22.00, 21 June 2019
BIRCH Network is organising a sponsored night bus ride on Friday 21st June 2018 to raise money for our hosting project with destitute refugees and asylum seekers. Join our current team of ten riders, including, David Hirst, Andy Jolly, Margaret Murray, Louise Kinsella, Esther Bakari, Abraham Silcott, Maggie Le Mare and Glenys Thomas and Mandy Ross (both doing a supportive daytime ride). We also hope to use the event to highlight the issues facing destitute migrants and fact that many of our destitute guests and many other migrants who are denied the right to work or other benefits, regularly face homelessness and have to rely on friends to let them sofa surf, sleep on their floors, and sometimes even have to resort to sleeping on night buses. Night Bus Ride details: Our team of volunteers who will ride the night buses together and will raise funds by asking people to sponsor them to do so. The night bus ride will start at The Gap Arts Project, Moseley, where we will all meet. We will then travel in various directions in groups but plan to have breaks during the night where we can meet up with other groups and use toilets, get coffee etc. We plan to come back and have breakfast together in the morning at the same venue.
