Further information

The Newark Dragon Boat Race is back for 2021, hosted by Beaumond House Hospice Care and the Children's Bereavement Centre! Dragon boat racing is the fastest growing water activity in Britain today, as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30 foot boat with a drummer at the front beating time. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit! The race takes part over one day and each team will take part in a minimum of 3 races before the fastest team goes through to the semi-final. The boat and life jackets are provided; all you need to do is recruit a team.

Who can take part

Anyone - whether you are a group of friends, a sports club or entering through a company, this will be a great day out for you! All we ask is that you are over 16 (16 and 17-year olds will need written permission from a parent/guardian) and that you are able to swim 50 metres. Each boat needs 10 paddlers and a drummer to keep the rhythm, however you can also bring up to 4 reserves if you wish. To enter a team please contact Charlotte Hanrahan at charlotte.hanrahan@beaumondhouse.co.uk or Rachel Wilson at rachel@childrensbereavementcentre.co.uk
