St Wilfrid's Hospice (Chichester)
Who we are
St Wilfrid’s Hospice has been providing compassionate end of life care in the local West Sussex community for over 30 years. Our charity covers a community of over 80,000 homes in an area south of the downs running between Emsworth to the west and Arundel to the east.
What we do:
St Wilfrid’s Hospice is much more than a building. We provide tailored end of life care both in the community and at the Hospice, supporting patients living with a terminal illness, and their family and friends.
At home is where the majority of care takes place, with our Community Nursing Specialists providing symptom control, respite for carers and emotional support. The Hospice at Home team aim to make the last days of patients’ lives supported, comfortable and dignified.
On the ward you can expect first class clinical care for those living with terminal illness, given in a home from home atmosphere. Our staff take time to listen and understand the needs and wishes of our patients and always try to go above and beyond to make sure everyone gets the care they deserve.
At the Living Well Centre patients, carers and those close to them can access a range of social activities and complimentary therapies to enrich their daily lives. A team of specialist staff is on hand to offer emotional, physical, and practical support. We encourage independence and resilience, enabling patients to live with dignity, perseverance and joy.
Our vital services are all provided free of charge, thanks only to the ongoing generous support of fundraisers and donors. Only 16% of the running costs are currently met by the NHS and we rely on the community to fund the remainder, which equates to just over £7.7 million each year.
