Founded in 1972, the Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity.

Thanks to the help of our members and supporters we now care for more than 1,000 woods, covering 26,000 hectares across the UK.

Ancient woodland supports more species than any other UK landscape, however it faces many threats, including developments, like new roads and airports expansions and, what we believe is its greatest threat, climate change.

By acquiring woods and woodland sites, campaigning for better protection of woodland and working in partnership with others, we aim to protect and restore the UK’s precious woodland heritage to its full glory.

We want to see:

1. No further loss of ancient woodland
2. The creation of new native woodland
3. The restoration and improvement of woodland biodiversity
4. An increase in people’s understanding and enjoyment of woods

You could help us continue this vital work by choosing us as your charity, helping us ensure that the special peace and beauty of our native woodland will still be here for the future.
