Kids Cancer Charity
Who we are
Since 1989 Kids Cancer Charity, formerly Christian Lewis Trust has supported families affected by childhood cancer throughout the U.K. Working alongside medical professionals the charity aims to complement and add value to the services provided by the statutory authorities. The charity believes that support is all about continuity; no matter what the prognosis. Accordingly, the range of services the charity provides includes Play Therapy where children affected by cancer and their siblings can express their feelings and experiences, enabling them to come to terms with pain, suffering and abnormal life through their natural medium of play. Bereavement Support helps families cope with the prospect and the results of grief. The charity offers “one to one” bereavement and pre-bereavement support for children and parents. Support groups help families express the feeling associated with grief and offer an opportunity of meeting others who have had similar experiences. Kids Cancer Charity is probably best known for its Holiday Programme which ranges from luxury static caravans on specially chosen sites situated on the coast in Wales, where a family can get away from the pressures of hospital and treatment, to holidays in both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland Paris where the charity’s partner organisations provide a unique programme of supervised and special facilities. The aim is to provide memories intended to last for a lifetime. The charity’s philosophy is simple; it believes that quality of life for children affected by cancer is a right and to work with them and their families is a privilege. Kids Cancer Charity relies entirely on voluntary donations.
