The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust
Who we are
Thank you for visiting the Virgin Money Giving page of The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust
Ectopic pregnancy is a serious, life-threatening condition that affects 1 in 80 pregnancies in the UK, and is still the leading cause of death in the first trimester of pregnancy. Put very simply, it is an “an out-of-place pregnancy” where a fertilised egg implants (gets stuck somewhere), most commonly in the Fallopian tube rather than in the womb. It is, sadly, not possible to move an ectopic pregnancy so a woman must face losing her baby, a risk to her life, impact on her fertility and intensive hospital treatment all at the same time. The emotional impact is devestating.
The EPT exists to:
- raise awareness of the condition amongst the medical profession and general public;
- encourage ‘Best Practice’ within the medical profession and save lives;
- provide a range of information and support services to support women who have suffered an ectopic pregnancy and their families through physical & emotional trauma and also health care providers;
- encourage research and distribute findings.
We provide our services free at the point of delivery, recieve no government funding and rely entirely on donations and sponsorship from third parties.
