Who we are

Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) is a user-led charity, campaigning, educating and supporting those affected by spinal cord injury (SCI).

Our VISION is a fulfilled life for everyone affected by spinal cord injury.
Our PURPOSE is to be in partnership with the SCI community, including family and friends to create quality and equality.

Our services include:

Peer Support - 2016/17 saw 4733 Peer Support sessions provided to SCI people in hospitals, NHS SCI centres, in the community and in people's homes.

Advice Line - 2016/17 SIA received and assisted 1655 enquiries with 96% service users considering using the service again.

SIA Academy - 2016/17 our academy welcomes 216 healthcare professionals to learn more about SCI, allowing them to further their understanding and inform their treatment of patients with an SCI.

The Nurse Advocate service attended to 69 SCI patients during the acute stage of their care in a non-specialist hospital.

92 people received advice and support relating to Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding. A healthcare package that requires an application to be completed.
