Pelandaba Orphans
What is the Pelandaba Orphans Charity?
The Orphans fund is an independent charity which operates under the umbrella of ZANE.
The sole aim of this small charity, which is based in Scotland, is to raise funds for the purpose of paying both the primary and secondary school fees of orphans living in and around Pelandaba, a suburb of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. School fees are currently US$ 40 per term for primary school children and US$ 50 per term for secondary pupils.
Progress so far
Several fund raising events have been organised in Argyll in the past 2 years. By Autumn 2012, 35 pupils have been returned to school in Pelandaba, but there are many more in need of assistance, so there is a need to increase the fund raising.
Why support us?
We hope that we have some compelling arguments for why you should contribute to us:
• Virtually no administration costs
• Clear, narrow focus - school fees are the target and education is crucial to the recovery of Zimbabwe
• Our targets are measurable - school fees are known, so there is a direct correlation between the funds you donate and the number of orphans we can support
• The Scottish end of the charity is run solely by volunteers, so there are no staff or premises overheads to be funded
• The combination of a small charity operating under the umbrella of a larger, well established UK charity adds security and the bonus of gift aid relief
