Age UK Manchester is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older Manchester residents. www.ageukmanchester.org.uk

Information and Advice.

Ring our help desk for information about a range of services for the older person. There is a hot line to our advice team for the more difficult questions, all answered in the strictest confidence. We also have a limited home visit service and hold advice sessions across the city.

Advocacy.

We offer independent advocacy to people in residential and nursing care. Advocacy includes attending care plan reviews and looking after residents’ finances where they don’t have anyone else to help. We also provide information to older people and their relatives looking for residential and nursing accommodation.

Day Centre Support.

We have 3 Care Centres in Manchester which offer a stimulating and enjoyable day out for older people who would otherwise have to stop at home all day. They are open Monday to Friday every week. Transport to and from the centres is included, as well as a healthy lunch.

Support at Home.

Our Care Centres also have teams of home support workers who provide care in peoples own homes. This service is available evenings and weekends as well as during the day. The home support team can also provide personal assistance either for every day living or for a special trip out.

Residential Care.

Holmfield in West Didsbury is a residential care home owned and managed by Age Concern Manchester and is for older people who benefit from receiving support around the clock. www.holmfield.org.uk

Counselling.

Approved counsellors are available to help people to explore and understand problems such as loneliness, bereavement, sexual and marital difficulties, and general anxieties. The counselling sessions are held in 2 of our Day Centres and at our Head Office. Counselling is also available at home.
