Who we are
Berkshire Vision, the new working name of the Berkshire County Blind Society, is a local registered charity with over 100 years of expertise and experience in the provision of services, advice and support to over 2,000 visually impaired people across Berkshire.
Many people who have lost their sight feel lonely and isolated and miss their independence. And, for those who have been blind since birth, it can be difficult for them to access opportunity.
As one members son wrote: "Losing your sight must be one of the most frustrating senses to lose as it can be so isolating but mother tried very heard to make the most of her changing condition and she could not have done all this without the help of Berkshire Vision".
Berkshire Vision makes home visits to people as their sight deteriorates to provide them with practical help and advice. BCBS also offers a regular programme of activities and events that are fun, bring people together and help to combat the isolation. For children, Berkshire Vision runs a programme of activities that encourage them to take part in new things in a safe environment.
