Stonewall is the UK’s leading lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) equality charity.

Since being established in 1989, we’ve lobbied successfully for legal changes including the repeal of Section 28, the lifting of the ban on gay men serving in the military and the introduction of laws protecting lesbian, gay and bi people when using goods and services.

Whilst there have been huge steps forward in legal equality, we know there’s still so much left to do.

LGBT people face persecution each day – both here and overseas.

-        One in five LGBT people in the UK have experienced a hate crime or incident because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the last 12 months (LGBT in Britain, Hate Crime Report 2017).

-        Just one in five LGBT pupils have been taught about safe sex in relation to same-sex relationships (School Report 2017).

-        Being gay is illegal in 75 countries around the world, and is punishable by death in ten.

We need your help in changing hearts and minds so that all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people can live freely without fear of discrimination.
