Wycombe Homeless Connection is a small registered charity helping homeless or at-risk people in High Wycombe, Bucks, to rebuild their lives by assisting them to find or keep accommodation and achieve a stable lifestyle. Homelessness has a variety of causes, including family breakdown, unemployment, addiction, poverty - or simply the end of a tenancy. Many people are just two pay-checks away from homelessness.

WHC is a community project of local churches, assisted by 400 active volunteers from all parts of the community. Every working day, WHC provides advice, advocacy, resettlement and eviction prevention services, helping around 500 single homeless adults annually – focusing on those for whom the local authority has little responsibility.

Each year, WHC staff and volunteers provide almost 3000 occasions of 1:1 support, and help individuals find or keep accommodation in about 80 instances. WHC also offers emergency support for those on the street and organises the Wycombe Winter Night Shelter, which provides up to 900 bed-nights to around 40 individuals annually. WHC works in partnership with the local council, accommodation providers and other specialist agencies.

It costs around £300,000 per year to provide WHC’s services. Because volunteers do much of our work, we make each penny go a long way! Please help if you can: donations of any size are welcome, but regular donations are especially valuable as they help with planning ahead.

More information about WHC’s work, current events and volunteering opportunities is available on the website.
