Why do we need your support?

10% of the population are dyslexic, 4% severely so.

Dyslexia affects approximately 6.5 million people in the UK.

However, dyslexia is not an obvious disability, it is hidden.  As a result, dyslexic people have to overcome numerous barriers, particularly in education and the workplace, as the condition and the impact it can have on individuals is often still not understood.

To support them the Dyslexia Association provides a wide range of high quality services, tailored to meet the needs of dyslexic people of all ages.  We also support their families/carers, educators, employers and the wider community.  Services are delivered by our team of dyslexia qualified specialists.

The Dyslexia Association is an independent registered charity, established in 1971.  We receive no Government funding, so relies entirely on the support of individuals such as yourself, who go that extra mile to support charities and good causes.

At the heart of our charity are our Helpline and Advice services.  Our Helpline Advisors, who have many years experience in the field of dyslexia and specific learning difficulties, provide information, advice and guidance to anyone needing it, via phone, email and social media.

Our fundraising appeal is to raise the funds we need to continue providing our free Helpline and Advice service. We receive thousands of calls and it costs us approximately £30,000 a year to give this support.
