Dangoor Next Generation Programme

Over the next five years British Exploring aims to substantially increase the number of young people that undertake our special brand of youth development.  In particular, we plan to grow our outreach programme by at least six fold, and bring the opportunity to an increasing number of disadvantaged young people.

The Dangoor Next Generation Programme aims to develop the self esteem and motivation of some of the UK’s most disadvantaged young people. Through a programme of skills development, outdoor leadership and expedition activities we hope to encourage young people to seek out new opportunities in life and, on return to the UK, we will support them into ongoing employment, education or training.

Even those who do not complete the programme through to the overseas expedition will have achieved positive personal development and will be offered work experience, training and mentoring for at least six months. The majority of those involved in previous programmes, prior to their involvement, admitted that their biggest problem in life was boredom and who, at the start, were invariably shy and unreliable, yet returned from expedition transformed.

In 2012 the expedition phase visited the Sinai Peninsula with 36 young explorers.  Please help us to fund this innovative programme that aims to transform the lives of some of the country’s most disadvantaged young people.
