Imagine what it is like to hear a constant sound, in one or both ears, or in the head, that can change in pitch and volume.

This is the experience of 13% of the UK adult population who experience this condition known as tinnitus. With many reporting significant effects on their quality of life including anxiety, depression, sleep deprivation, and isolation.

Here at the British Tinnitus Association (BTA), we aim to provide a range of support services, which help people across the UK to better manage their tinnitus leading to a better quality of life.

We are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people affected by tinnitus, and have been doing so for more than 40 years.

We support over 1 million people per year, many of whom are elderly or isolated by their condition, through:

  • A confidential freephone helpline
  • Free information leaflets
  • Medical research into causes and potential treatments
  • ‘Quiet’ BTA’s membership magazine
  • Tinnitus information days
  • Support Groups
  • Information via
  • Awareness raising and community events
  • Working with professionals to improve patient support

Our important work costs around £1 million per year. We receive no government funding and are 100% reliant upon the generosity of our supporters and fundraisers.

91p in every £1 given contributes directly to supporting people affected by tinnitus.

We are always keen to support our volunteers and fundraisers engage individuals in our work.

If you would like to become more involved in our work, or we can support your fundraising appeal in any way, such as promotion, materials or advice, please get in touch:
