Salt Of The Earth
Who we are
Salt of the Earth was born in 1988 after our founder visited India and witnessed the levels of poverty that face rural communities in India. There and then he resolved to help the rural communities he met, Salt of the Earth was born. Since then, we have raised £4 million pounds and counting to fund projects in India whilst spreading awareness of the plight of the rural communities we work with.
Salt of the Earth supports rural development projects based on community driven development through local partners in India. We believe in an holistic approach to development and support a variety of different developmental projects, which focus on womens empowerment, health interventions, ecological and environmental preservation and educational advancement.
So far we have helped 500,000 beneficiaries. However, we are not stopping there. India faces key socio-economic challenges as the gap between the rich and poor widens. We want to continue to help even more people and for that we need your support.
Our work creates a voice for rural beneficiaries while allowing these communities to have more control over their development assistance. Ultimately, we believe this approach to development will result in projects that are more responsive to the needs of rural communities living in poverty.
