Home-Start Wandsworth believes that a better start in life can change a child's future.
In partnership with parents, we help families to tackle the challenges they face, build their ability to cope, and create a better life for themselves and their children.
We work particularly with families with at least one child under the age of 5, as early intervention in this crucial pre-school phase can be transformative.
Our network of trained volunteers visit families at home each week to offer tailored practical and emotional support. Many Home-Start families are living with:
- mental health issues
- loneliness and isolation
- disability
- lone-parenting
- feeling overwhelmed by day-to-day challenges
“I’m so happy I have Home-Start Wandsworth in my life. I’m so grateful. I’m in the process of getting myself back and giving my children a better mother.”
Families also have the chance to meet, learn and relax together through Home-Start group activities such as play sessions, sewing workshops, day trips and a singing group. As well as being fun and good for wellbeing, these groups are a place where people can connect, share information and make friends.
