The Rooprai Spinal Trust

Who we are

"The Rooprai Spinal Trust is invaluable, providing support, hope and friendship when you need it the most"    JD (partner was paralysed from the shoulders down in 2011)

After a road traffic accident left Marrianne Rooprai paralysed from the shoulders down, she was faced with the prospect of life without the use of any limbs.  Along with a vast amount of other physical and psychological problems that a spinal cord injury brings, life that the then 27 year old knew and loved would change forever.

Always an infectious, bubbly and positive person, Marrianne’s character has never wavered. Inspired by his long term partner during one of his daily visits to the spinal unit, Marrianne’s partner Andy decided they should start a trust.  A trust that would not only mirror Marrianne’s desire for progress, but a trust that would help her to reach goals and ultimately help others who have been affected by the devastation that spinal cord injury brings. In 2005 The Rooprai Spinal Trust was born, completely voluntary organisation.

Today we offer 'scholarships' to others with Spinal Cord Injury to participate in active based physio and Marrianne's progress continues to inspire many.
