Headway Suffolk

About Us

Headway Suffolk offers direct care to survivors of brain injury and neurological conditions.

Our Neuro Hubs in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds are open five days a week and benefit people through the rehabilitation activities they provide.  We also have satellite hubs once a week in across the county.

Thanks to Big Lottery funding we are able to provide counselling for the person with the condition and for their family carer, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.

We also offer a bespoke service in a person's own home or in their local community.

We can, for example, help the person get up and dressed, take medication or prepare a meal.  We will do this at a time to suit them. We can support the person to carry out a hobby, go shopping or take part in a leisure activity.

Our unique Brainy Dogs project is also a much-valued part of our service.  Rescue dogs from Felixstowe Blue Cross are trained by prisoners to become companion dogs.

Some dogs live with our clients as pets, others stay at the hub as pets to all who want to be involved.  Clients can walk the dogs, groom them and feed them with support from the Brainy Dog Co-ordinator.
