Who we are
We pride ourselves on having never asked for donations and will continue to strive to meet the needs of the Mara Rianda Community.
See www.mararianda.com for more details
We are a very small charity that is run by volunteers. Every penny raised is spent in providing assistance to the Mara Rianda community in the Maasai Mara, Kenya. Nothing is taken as expenses and salaries by the charity.
We primarily assist the Mara Rianda Primary School (which currently has approximately 900 pupils), Enkereri Primary School (which currenyly has over 200 pupils) and the immediate local community by providing the school with resources and providing bursaries for secondary education. We also assist in the funding of its teaching staff.
To date in addition to general support we have funded the provision of fresh water to two schools, building of classrooms, latrines, kitchen and dining block, installation of solar power. We assist in the provision of sanitary protection for the girls so they can continue with their studies without interruption. As at 2017 we have provided bursaries for 108 children to go to secondary school and one student to university.
In 2013 we have funded the building of a large medical centre (including 3 separate wards for women, men and children of 5 beds each) The charity also supports the enhancement of facilities and provision of essential equipment at the medical centre. We also funded the building of a maternity centre as well.
