Emma & Adele's 50Km Thames Challenge Walk September 2015

On 12th September 2015 Emma & Adele took part in the Thames Path 50km Challenge. Both busy mums they raised £958.00 for ACD Research.  Thank you!

Simon & Dariush's Edinburgh Marathon May 2015

Simon (David's dad) and Dariush (a close family friend) ran the Edinburgh Marathon on 31/05/15 to raise money for ACD Research.  They both completed it in amazing time and raised a huge amount for David.  you!

Mike's FIVE Peaks By Bike & Hike June 2015

Mike's son Dan was one of our first fundraisers back in 2011! Then it was Mike's turn with a truly challenging challenge! 

On 7th June 2015 Mike was part of a team tackling the first known attempt to climb the five highest peaks in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales and cycling the 960 miles between them in 7 days!

Fundraising for Hope

Since Hope passed away from ACD in 2014, Stuart and Kerry Davey have raised over £3000 in her memory.  Fundraising has included Kerry running the Silverstone half marathon in March 2015. 

Freeze Out ACD

We are jumping on the ice bucket band wagon and are raising money for ACD research. Thank you to all who got wet and those who didn't but donated anyway!

Clare's half marathon

Dr Clare Pettinger ran her first half marathon for quite some time in memory of David!  Clare is mum to twin 2 year old boys, so giving up time to train must was quite a challenge! Thank you Clare for raising £671.00.  A huge amount!

Ultra Marathon London to Brighton May 2014

Dave Upton and his friend Matt are running the London to Brighton ultra marathon - 62 miles on 24th May 2014 to raise money for The David Ashwell Foundation in memory of Jo and Chris' first son Alex.

Baby Alans West Highland Way April 2013

In memory of Baby Alan, Andrew and 15 of his friends, Steven, Scott B, Callum, Scott M, Steph, Paul, Stewart, Kevin, David, Barrie, Graeme, Ross, Alan, Alan D, and Martin are walking the West Highland Way, a 96 mile hike from Milngavie to Fort William.

Loch Ness Marathon  30th September

Zoe Weir completed the Loch Ness Marathon for David in a fabulous time.

Ironman Wales 2012

On 16th Sept 2012 Gemma Ashwell (David's Aunt) competed in the Ironman Wales 2012 competition. Gemma was 22nd female out of 122 (5th in her age category) & completed her 2.4 mile swim/ 112 mile bike / 26.2 mile run in an amazing 11.36.52 - just fantastic!

BUPA Great North Run (GNR) 2012

On 16th Sept 2012 Charlotte ran in the world's biggest half marathon for The David Ashwell Foundation and MacMillan Cancer.

Marmotte Cyclosportive 7th July 2012

Andrew Heath was one of the 2011 one day coast-to-coast cyclists.  In 2012 he successfully completed the world's hardest Cyclosportive.

In July 2012 Serena & Andrew cycled the length of Ireland, from its most northerly point, Malin Head, to its most southwesterly, Mizen Head in [b? days.

A personal challenge for 2012

Michele (a friend and colleague of Amelia) is aiming to drop 3 stones  and loose lots of inches by 20th June 2012 to raise money ACD research. Please support Michele to help raise funds and make 2012 the year of change.  There will be regular updates on her progress.

In May 2012, a friend & colleague of Jo & Chris (who lost baby Alex to ACD in May 2011) Darren Brawn along with friends did the very tough... 2012 Tough Mudder challenge.  

[i?? Virgin London Marathon

We had two runners in this years London Marathon, Alison and Dave.

In 2005 Alison and her husband lost their first child, beautiful Nicholas to ACD.  Alison was our first runner in the 2012 London Marathon.  You can follow Alison on twitter @AlisonHardisty 

Dave is a family friend of another UK ACD family.  Jo & Chris lost gorgeous Alex in May 2011, a few months after David.  Dave was our second marathon runner. 

Jacobs Ladder Challenge - A Climb for David

This is Kay Durys 2nd fundraising event for The David Ashwell Foundation.  She is has come up with quite a challenge - it includes [b?? steps on a 43 metre incline! Please support her! Kay is originally from Newcastle, UK but now lives in Perth Australia.

Get ready to party.... Charity event

On 28th April 2012 @the Treebridge hotel the first ever Rock, Frocks & Frolics event was held in aid of The David Ashwell Foundation.  We raised just under £8000!

Tyne Zippers

In Newcastle on Saturday 29th October 2011 Emma Mudd (Foster), Angela Craigie and a band of brave friends zipwired across the river Tyne.  You can read about the Tyne Zippers here.

Half marathon - Birmingham

On Sunday 23rd October a team lead by Penny Rumbold ran the Birmingham half marathon.  They completed it in a fantastic 1 hour 58 minutes!

Half marathon - The Royal Parks

On 9th October 2011, Victoria Hewson ran The Royal Parks Half Marathon and did it in a splendid time of 2 hours 31 mins.  Thank you Victoria for raising money for ACD research!

Junior Great North Run

Elena Campbell ran the Junior Great North Run for the David Ashwell Foundation.  Thank you Elena - who has said she will run again next year!

Half marathon - The Great North Run

In Newcastle on 18/09/11 Rachel Tyrrell ran, for the second time, the Great North Run (GNR) which is a half marathon.  She did an amazing time of 02:06:23. This is 40 minutes quicker than her first attempt in 2009.  Brilliant job Rachel T!

Fiona Crosbie was one of the few people who met David and got to hold him.  Fiona also ran the GNR to raise money for ACD research.  Thank you Fiona

One day  Coast-to-Coast Cycle

On the 10th September Simon Ashwell (Davids Dad) and a team of consultants and colleagues from James Cook University Hospital cycled the Coast to Coast route in ONE DAY.  The route of 125 miles taking in many climbs and providing the team with quite a challenge took only 6 hours and 25 minutes.

Half marathon - Lisbon

In sunny Lisbon, Portugal in September, Vafa (Amelias cousin) ran running a half marathon for David. Despite being rather injury prone Vafa did a great job! Well done Vafa!

Coast to Coast cycle

In August 2011 Dan Charlton (aged 11 years) cycled from the Irish Sea at Whitehaven for 140 miles along the Coast to Coast Cycle route to the North Sea at Seaburn. A local business will match every pound Dan raises!

City-to-surf, Perth Australia

In Perth Australia, on 28/08/11 Kay Drury ran the 12km City to Surf.
