Carer Support South Lakes

Who we are

Carer Support South Lakes is an independent, local charity and network partner of Carers Trust. We provide a range of services to support and enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout South Lakeland.A Carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a parent, partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, substance misuse or disability.

There are thousands of Carers in South Lakeland. Many face emotional and financial difficulties. Many have given up their income, education or employment prospects or pension rights to care for someone. Others attempt to juggle jobs and their caring responsibilities. Taking on a caring role can lead to feelings of isolation, frustration, depression and can result in ill health.

Access to information, emotional support, advocacy, financial support and opportunities to take a break can help manage the impact of caring on the lives of Carers.

Each year we work with more than 1,000 Carers in South Lakeland. Although we are contracted by Cumbria County Council to deliver some of our activities, this does not pay for all of the services our Carers need.

Your donations, whether large or small, make a huge difference to us and help us to continue our work with Carers, supporting them and allowing them to continue their caring role.
