Who we are
[b]VISION: The advancement of education and relief of suffering through education, including building and maintenance of schools in Tanzania, meals programmes for students, teaching and training.
AZAR has been supporting education in Dodoma Tanzania since 2006 when it fundraised and built a 16 classroom primary school in Kisasa. The school now has over 2,000 pupils. Since then we have added a kitchen, a special needs classroom, special needs toilets and a dining hall which also doubles as a two classroom block. We are delighted the school is now thriving.
We have now turned out attention to a smaller rural school badly in need of help. The number one request from staff and parents was that we provide a water source so in 2019 we provided a borehole with hand pump.
New Classroom Blocks
Number two request was for more classrooms. They had six and needed four more. These cost around £9,000 each and we are currently raising funds for the last one!
In August 2019 an AZAR team travelled to Dodoma to help build the first two-classroom block and apart from some final cosmetic touches this is all but complete.
In March we hope to commence the final two classroom block if we have the money. In the meantime we also need to renovate the toilet blocks and provide a water tank. Our target is £6,000.
