Mental Health Research UK

Who we are

Mental Health Research UK (MHRUK) is the first charity in the UK to have the sole objective of supporting research into the causes and cures of mental illness.

1 in 4 people suffer from mental illness at some point in their lives.

Depression - the leading cause of disability worldwide - will be the single biggest medical burden on healthcare by 2020.

Mental illness accounts for nearly as much ill-health as all physical illness put together.

Mental ill health costs the UK economy over £50 billion per year.

MHRUK's sole purpose is to ensure people with mental illness have the best chance in life. Transforming lives, funding research into the causes of mental illness to make a long-term difference.

To make a significant improvement in the lives of people with mental illness, we need to increase significantly the amount of research into causes, cures and in some instances, prevention.

Please give us your support.
