Safe In Sussex

Who we are

Our aim is to protect, support and inform people from domestic abuse leading to a greater safety in their lives and in the community.

We provide safe accomodation for women and their children in our refuges with key workers supporting every woman and child. We also have a dedicated children’s service for the children in the refuge with Child Support Workers using play therapy to support these children through what is a very difficult and challenging time.

Our community drop in centre in Littlehampton is open to anyone to access providing, information, signposting and support.

We run various groups in the community including the 'Freedom Programme' which is an informative, interactive course aimed at women that have or are experiencing domestic violence. Women can join at any time during the twelve week cycle. It provides an opportunity for women to learn how to identify abuse and to live free from harm. The next step on from this is 'Stay Free' programme which helps survivors of domestic abuse and have broken free from an abusive relationship to find ways to maintain that freedom. Following on from that we also run the 'Recovery Toolkit' which helps to look at self esteem and assertiveness within each woman.

For children and young people we offer educational programmes to both primary and secondary schools. The programmes focus on healthy and respectful relationships,  building confidence, knowledge and the ability to recognise unhealthy relationships and where to get support.
