“Our mission is to use and promote extreme sports, physical activity and play to bring about positive changes in peoples’ lives.”
We Change Lives!
Transition Extreme Sports is an Aberdeen based charity (SC036358) that owns and operates the climbing wall and skatepark at the beach front in Aberdeen. We use our facilities and the sports that we offer to provide vital outreach work to children who find a traditional school environment challenging for a variety of reasons. The activities we offer serve a number of purposes, they light a spark of enthusiasm which allows our instructors and youth workers to connect in a meaningful way and offer support when it has previously been resisted. They also allow children to progress on their own terms, working individually or as part of a group but seeing measurable changes in their ability which builds confidence, self-esteem and trust. Our core programmes have a 90% success rate in securing positive outcomes for attendees, either returning to school, going on to further education or starting work.
As an Aberdeen based charity we work in line with Aberdeen City Council’s Local Outcome Improvement Plan 2016-2026 to deliver an extensive portfolio of youth and community programmes, which contribute meaningfully across all four pillars of the plan.
We are very pleased to report that we have delivered significant and lasting social, economic and environmental value to the City and its people since we began operations in 2007. Transition Extreme has built a strong reputation for our quality of service and impact driven by a person centred approach. Our range of youth and community programmes have evidence of producing positive outcomes for young people including, educational support and attainment, personal development, raising aspirations and building confidence, as well as contributing to over 35% of a young persons recommended annual level of physical activity.
