The Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre
Who we are
The Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre (DBARC) is a registered Charity that seeks to provide care, comfort and sanctuary for animals in need. It attempts to provide assistance for a wide range of domestic pets needing to find themselves new homes. Occasionally it is not possible to find homes for some of these animals, in which case DBARC will offer a home to them.
The Animal Rescue Centre was founded over sixty years ago when Mrs Diana Brimblecombe established a sanctuary at her home in Wokingham to provide a continuous haven for homeless and unwanted animals. That sanctuary and its successor at Hurst, has accepted, cared for and re-homed many thousands of domestic animals, representing a multitude of species and breeds.
The Charity also offers an advisory service to local schools and youth organisations, attempting to provide young people with advice on the responsibilities of pet ownership and the techniques of animal care, thus, in the long term, hopefully reducing the number of animals obliged to seek sanctuary.
We also make visits to care communities to provide the joy of animal contact to people whose circumstances prohibit pet ownership.
