Who we are
Victorias Wish was set up in honour of a young lady Victoria Marie Lawrence who was beautiful both inside and out. From the age of 7, Victorias Wish was to become a nurse after watching her younger sister recieve treatment on the oncology ward at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. In September 2008 her dream came true as she was accepted onto the paediatric nursing course at Teesside university. On December 8th her big day came and she put her uniform on for the first time, little did anyone know it would be her last. Sadly on December 12th Victoria died very suddenly. An autopsy showed she had Sepsis, bronical phnomonia and Emphya. Victoria loved children and was never happier than when she saw a child smile. Victorias Wish provides three or more activities a year for children who have cancer or other life threatening illnesses, Grants to help with Medical, travel and funeral expenses as well as respite breaks. We always include mums, dads and siblings in the events as we hope to create happy memories to treasure forever, as sadly some of our children die.
We also hope to prevent isolation as sometime when a family leave the hospital environment they feel very lonely, parents have told us that the activities we provide create an enviroment where they can meet with other families who are going through similar situations as they are.
Victorias wish is run by a small team of volunteers that fundraise endlesly to keep alive the legacy of love that was left behind by Victoria.
