The role of the Lord Mayor includes:

  • Meeting delegates from twinned cities.
  • Chairing council meetings.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool is always a serving councillor, elected by the full council at its Annual General Meeting held each May, and stands for one year in office.

The current Lord Mayor is Councillor Mary Rasmussen

Your Charity of the Year?

Did you know that Liverpool's Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal has helped raise over £1 million for local good causes?

This is the charity of the first citizen of Liverpool - which for 2021/2022 is Councillor Mary Rasmussen

The Lord Mayor is being supported by Councillor Roy Gladden, the Deputy Lord Mayor.

Each year the Lord Mayor of Liverpool raises money to be distributed to local charities or charities with a Liverpool connection.

We would both really appreciate your help and ask that you consider making The Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal (Liverpool) your Charity of the Year. It doesn't matter if it's for a calendar year or a financial year, as your money will help local charities now and in the future.
