Hastings and St Leonards Voluntary Lifeguard Club
Who we are
The mission of Hastings Lifeguard Club is to prevent drowning, promote water safety, and encourage the safe and responsible enjoyment of water based activities. With its team of dedicated volunteer lifeguards, lifesavers and trainers the Club provides instruction in personal survival, water safety, lifesaving and life support to people of all ages in weekly pool based training sessions and, during the warmer months, at its beach venue. It delivers Royal Lifesaving Society UK awards and is a an Approved Training Centre for both the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and the National Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NBLQ). The Club provides lifeguard and first aid services to local indoor and outdoor water sport and leisure events such as rowing regattas, sea swims and boating events. In order to do this the Club runs a fully equipped in-shore rescue boat, a support boat and a number of paddle craft as well as a mobile first aid post equipped with medical oxygen and defibrillator. The Club is a registered charity staffed entirely by volunteers and is a non-profit organisation.
