Who we are
Oakleaf is a mental health charity based in Guildford which has been serving the Surrey community for the last 24 years. It works to foster confidence and reduce social isolation by actively training, engaging and supporting individuals with mental ill-health to empower them to participate as active members of society.
With 1 in 4 people in the UK suffering from mental ill-health every single year, its services have never been more vital.
Oakleaf delivers vocational courses in upholstery, horticulture and IT, to enable its clients to gain up-to-date qualifications and practical experience with the goal of returning to work. The charity also offers a range of Wellbeing Activities that cater towards building confidence, physical health and mental wellbeing. Alongside a counselling service and job seeking support, these activities have increased the charity’s outreach – in 2019 they had 12,500 visits to their sites across Surrey.
The charity operates as a social enterprise, selling high quality services from their vocational training departments in upholstery and gardening, with the funds feeding straight back into the charity.
Oakleaf is also the base of the Guildford Safe Haven, this facility is available to anyone as an alternative to A&E who is reaching or has reached a mental health crisis. This is a valued service which is open 365 days a year.
Oakleaf Enterprise is a well-established and highly valued asset of the Surrey community, supporting some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the local area.
