Mapledurham Recreation Ground Charity

Who we are

Our Aim: To raise the remaining money needed to replace Mapledurham Pavilion

Who we are: The local community with The Warren & District Residents’ Association (WADRA) taking the lead.

How much do we need to raise?  To date, a total of about £175,000 has been raised or pledged, including £100,000 from Reading Borough Council (RBC).  To achieve our first goal we need to raise £300,000, with a further £350,000 for our second and final objective, which is to include changing rooms up to the Football Association’s standards

What you can donate:   Money in the first instance!  You might like to “buy a brick” starting at £1, or buy the entire pavilion for £350,000. Money donated via this site allows us to collect gift aid on donations from UK taxpayers, increasing your donation by 20%.

We would also value donations of your skills and time. As the project progresses, we will be looking for people to help with finishing the interior of the building (e.g., painting/basic decorating, gardening, builder’s mates, brick layers, plumbers, carpenters plasterers, electricians and other trades). If you have these skills or are just handy with a paintbrush, we would love to hear from you.

Items that can be donated or paid for:  All items will need to be to the plan’s specification, so will be purchased at the time of building, but we would value donations of money to cover the cost of a particular item if you wish.  A list of items (including white goods, bathroom & kitchen fittings etc.) and their expected cost will be on WADRA’s website:

If you have particular items that you would like to pledge, materials, items, time or skills please email with your name and contact details, indicating the items or skills you would like to donate to the build.

Other ways to contribute: We are always looking for people who can join us for any of our current events (e.g., Fete, Dinner Dance, Metal Recycling, Car Boot Sales, etc).  Alternatively if you would like to organise your own event to help fundraise for this cause we will be happy to provide assistance.

Further information:      Architect’s plans together with background information about the Pavilion and Playing Fields can also be found on

All monies received will be invested into delivering capital improvements to Mapledurham Pavilion and the Playing Fields
