Regain - The Trust For Sports Tetraplegics

Who we are

Registered in 1993, Regain - The Trust for Sports Tetraplegics is unique in that it is the only UK charity soley dedicated to supporting individuals, that through a sports related injury are now tetraplegic. Tetraplegia occurs when the spinal column is damaged between the C1-C7 cervical part of the spine. The prognosis of such an injury is dependant on the level of damage caused to the spinal column - however in all cases, partial paralysis occurs in all four limbs and in the worst case, 'complete' paralysis can exist from the neck down. Tetraplegia is often referred to as 'The Superman Injury' following the tragic horse riding accident to Superman actor - Christopher Reeve. With your support 'Regain' will be able to continue and increase the level of funding we can provide to UK tetraplegic individuals. Our support ranges from providing specialist equipment such as lightweight wheelchairs, hand cycles and elite carbon racing wheelchairs to awarding grants for university fees, tilt tables, mobility power chairs and residential adaptations to improve living standards. Regain takes a special interest in introducing tetraplegic individuals back into sport. The awareness surrounding disability sport in the UK has increased dramatically since the London 2012 Paralympics. Regain is working hard to ensure that the legacy dream that the Games were secured upon are met - but to do this we need your support. With the help of people like you, Regain can continue to award grants to UK tetraplegic individuals, positively supporting them back into sport, a new career, a new life and offering new hope.
