St.Helens Mind supports several Groups in St.Helens. The Groups aim to support people who have experienced mental health difficulties and who would benefit from the social support the groups provide. You will find a warm welcome in a safe environment with access to the Mind Team and the people we work in partnership with.
The Mens Group is the more structured of our Groups with opportunities to take part in quizzes, discussions, film mornings and other activities. Other Groups provide an environment for user led activities in an informal setting.
The Ladies Active Group is held monthly. It has no permanent base but meets at mutually agreed places and times to undertake an activity. This could be a walk and a museum visit, a walk and a pub/cafe lunch or any other active pursuit the group agrees on.
The Ladies Creative Group enjoys art and craft sessions, occasional social outings and provides a relaxed environment for ladies to enjoy a creative activity as well as meeting with other people.
The Allotment provides a great opportunity for getting fresh air, enjoying some exercise, socialising and growing great fresh herbs, fruit and veg! We aim to hold activities and events there throughout the year. It is fully accessible, and even has a toilet that we recieved a generous donation to provide.
Although funding is provided for our Befriending Servcie, we rely on the generosity of people making donations and applications to small grants providers to maintain the Groups. As well as having to pay rent for each premises, we need resources to provide for activities, and to recruit, train and maintain volunteers.
With increasing numbers of people requiring our services, donations via the Virgin Money Giving website enable us to provide adequate and appropriate support. The people who use our service; the volunteers and staff cannot thank donors enough for their kindness.
